Keywords: PhDSciNet team, finals
As the PhDSciNet science website prepared to launch, we entered the 2017 “Lüyang Jinfeng” Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition in Yangzhou, China. Yangzhou is a city renowned for its culture and the hometown of team founder 张磊 and web department lead 史文泽. With the theme “Gathering Innovation, Revitalizing People and the City,” the competition had separate tracks for young talent, local talent and leading talent. Team initiators 张磊 and 张沁榕, together with web department lead 史文泽, prepared actively. Among nearly 400 entrepreneurial and creative projects from China and abroad, the PhDSciNet team stood out through the preliminary assessment, entrepreneurship boot camp and semifinal pitches over almost two months, reaching the final as one of the top 20 teams.
Municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary 张宝娟, other city and district officials, and representatives of several investment teams attended the final on May 26. 张沁榕 and 史文泽 delivered the team's live pitch. Following the judges' vote and an audience vote, the team placed ninth in the creative-project track and received a merit award. The photograph below shows 张沁榕 and 史文泽 at the final.

After the final, Yangzhou 985 Makerspace invited PhDSciNet to join and presented the team with a ceremonial golden key. At the same time, the Yangzhou Angel Dream Fund expressed an intention to invest RMB 200,000 in the PhDSciNet creative project. In addition, 张沁榕 gave an interview to the technology media outlet Lieyun on behalf of PhDSciNet.
It was reported that ten teams that had reached the final would be selected for an overall final in August.
